Enjoy a festive crumble made with apples, cranberries and mixed spice. Serve warm with cream or custard for the ultimate comfort dessert.

Method

Based on 6 servings, adjust as needed.

Step 1

Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 or if using an air fryer, heat it to 180C for 3 mins. Tip the apples, cranberries ground cloves, the ground cinnamon and half of the sugar into a 22cm square baking dish and mix well to combine. If using an air fryer, add 2 tbsp water (if cooking 6 portions), cover and cook for 10-12 mins until the fruit is softened.

Step 2

For the crumble, rub the flour and butter together using your fingertips until you have a breadcrumb-like consistency. Stir in the remaining sugar. Sprinkle the crumble in an even layer over the fruit, then bake for 35-40 mins or air fry for 10-15 mins until golden on top and bubbling at the edges. Leave to cool slightly, then serve warm with custard, cream or vanilla ice cream.
