“This is a fun way to enjoy all the familiar flavours of a cheeseburger – but in a fresh and light way! Along with seasoned beef mince - cheese, gherkins, tomato and even a burger sauce feature. Be sure to use the firmest leaves to fill, which will make enjoying these ‘taco- style’ a lot easier.” - Monya
Method
Based on 4 servings, adjust as needed.
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick pan or wok over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and cook until just softened. Add the beef mince and increase the heat to high. Cook until the beef has completely browned and safely cooked through, approx. 6 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir in half the chopped gherkins.
Step 2
Make a quick burger sauce by combining the mayonnaise and ketchup in a small bowl. Set aside.
Step 3
Arrange the best-selected lettuce leaves out on a large platter. Add small dollops of the burger sauce, ensuring each leaf has equal amounts. Spoon in the cooked mince mixture, then top with the grated cheese, remaining gherkins, and sliced tomatoes.
Step 4
Serve soon after assembling to ensure the ‘lettuce’ wraps are still fresh and crunchy. So simple and delicious!
