A hotdog with a twist! Introducing our healthier hotdog with tartar sauce and crunchy lettuce. Our easy tartar sauce is made with chives and lemon and any leftover will keep in the fridge for up to a week.
Based on 4 servings, adjust as needed.
Preheat your grill to high
Place 4 salmon fillets skin-side down on a baking tray and grill for 10-12 minutes, until just cooked.
Whilst the salmon is cooking, mix together 180g mayonnaise, 40g chopped chives, 1 tbsp chopped capers, 1 tbsp lemon zest and some black pepper. For younger children you might like to use plain mayonnaise instead of the tartar sauce.
Separate 8 lettuce leaves and slice ½ the cucumber. Slice the remaining lettuce and dice the remaining cucumber and add to a salad bowl. Whisk together 1 tbsp lemon juice, 3 tbsp olive oil, a pinch of salt, some black pepper and a pinch of sugar, and toss through the salad.
Toast the outside of 4 bread rolls and slice lengthways about two-thirds of the way down, so that the bun opens like a book. Fill the buns with some tartar sauce, 2 lettuce leaves, a few slices of cucumber and a piece of salmon. Serve with the salad and any extra tartar sauce on the side.
