Ginger Shots

Instead of paying £4 for a single pre-made ginger shot, why not make them at home? Packed with powerful antioxidants, these firey ginger shots will supercharge your mornings. With fresh lemon and orange for vitamin C, cayenne to aid digestion and black pepper to increase your body's ability to absorb turmeric's beneficial compounds. Prep in advance and store in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Method

Based on 8 servings, adjust as needed.

Step 1

Chop the ginger into chucks (you can leave the skin on as we're going to strain it later). Cut the skin off the lemons and oranges, using a small sharp knife to remove as much of the white pith as possible, then cut into slices, removing any pips.

Step 2

Add the chopped ginger and citrus to the blender along with the turmeric, cayenne, a generous amount of black pepper, agave or honey, if using, and just enough water to cover. Blend well then strain through a fine sieve over a jug or bowl to collect the juice. Use a spatula to press down on the pulp to squeeze out any remaining juice. 💡 See our tips to find out how you can use this pulp.

Step 3

Divide the shots into small glass bottles or jars and keep into the fridge for 3-4 days.
